The method

Style is a skill, not a talent.

Everything StyledByYou recommends comes from one workbook and one belief. No trend feeds, no body scoring, no fixing. Here is the whole method, in the open.

The core

What we start from

This is not about becoming someone else. It is about meeting yourself.

You are not the problem. There is nothing to fix. When we talk about balance, we mean bringing proportions into conversation with each other — never shrinking, never hiding.

Highlight what you love. Gently soften what you would rather not feature. Fit beats trend. Buy less, choose well. And knowing the principles is exactly what lets you break them on purpose.

Pillar one

Five body shapes

Shape has nothing to do with weight or size. It is a question of proportion and balance, and many people sit comfortably between two.

Hourglass

Bust and hips in line, waist clearly smaller. The goal is simply to follow the waist.

Pear

Hips wider than shoulders, with a defined waist. The goal is to draw the eye upward and let bottoms skim.

Triangle

Shoulders or bust widest, slimmer through the hip. The goal is to soften the shoulder line and add volume below.

Rectangle

Shoulders, waist and hips align cleanly. The goal is to carve a waist and build curve through seaming and shape.

Apple

Fullness through the middle, often with a full bust and slender limbs. The goal is a long vertical line that skims, plus room to show off legs and neckline.

Pillar two

Three undertones

Undertone is the warmth or coolness beneath your skin. It matters far more than how light or deep your skin is.

Cool

A blue, pink or rosy base. Emerald, sapphire, ruby, cool pink, lavender and charcoal come alive on you.

Warm

A golden, peachy or olive base. Olive, mustard, terracotta, coral, camel and cream come alive on you.

Neutral

A balance of both. Jade, teal, soft rose, true red, denim, taupe and off-white come alive on you.

The rule that matters most: your best colours go closest to your face — tops, scarves, lipstick, earrings.

Pillar three

Six face shapes

Hair is framing. The goal is almost always to balance toward an oval, and a wig or protective style is as legitimate a tool as a haircut.

Oval

Almost anything works. Avoid styles that hide the face entirely.

Round

Height at the crown, long layers, side parts, length below the chin.

Square

Soft waves, layers, a side-swept fringe.

Heart

Chin-length or longer, side-swept fringe, volume at the jaw.

Oblong

Width and waves, a blunt or curtain fringe, chin-to-shoulder length.

Diamond

A fringe and chin-length volume to widen the forehead and jaw.

What we will never do

Our boundaries

  • No medical, weight-loss or eating advice — ever.

  • No comment on your weight, size or diet.

  • No suggestion that any part of you needs fixing, hiding or slimming.

  • No body photo is ever stored. Photos are read in memory and deleted immediately.

  • A shape read from a photo is offered as a suggestion, never stated as fact.

Your body is not a problem to solve — it's a home to dress with love.
